July 2008 summary

Realised I wont have time tomorrow to do a summary so i'll start it now, and probably amend it a bit over the next few days.

Turned out to be a pretty decent month where I increased my bankroll by another $1,550. And at least I actually won a bit on the tables this month, but didn't make anywhere near as much in bonus $.

The gain of $1,450 for the month was made up of:

Bonuses/VIP: $900
  • William Hill: $50 for 5 hours play bonus
    Cake: $70 reload bonus
  • Ongame: $150
  • Bodog: $170
  • gnuf: $170
  • 24: $200
Rakeback: $100
  • William Hill: $10
  • Cake: $50
  • Fulltilt: $40
Poker winnings / (losses): $450 Profit this time.. much better

For August the goals in order of priority are:
  • Play my 5 hours on William Hill for the $50 bonus
  • Clear my last $20 on cake
  • Maybe find a new site to play on and score some new bonuses - probably everest through PSO
  • Find a good reload bonus on an existing site
  • Cash out of sites i've bonus cleared and won't play on again until a good reload deal
Current bankroll: $10,750 (+360 Aug)

Be aware with Adsense adds on your blog.
Cause you are blogging about gambling related content they will never pay you.

Cheers,

Great results BCG. Your path seems to be quite similar to mine (http://raisingtheriver.blogspot.com). I started 6 month ago with a $10 no-deposit bonus from VCpoker.

I mostly play 6 max limit as you do (0.50/1 and 1/2 mainly at the moment). I haven't had your level of success though - hovering around the $1000 level still. I'd like to play no-limit, but I find it tough and tedious - full of tight nits waiting for big starting hands. The big fish and maniacs all seem to me to be playing limit.

I've played VC, Pacific, Tower, Titan, Party and Bodog. I'm interested to see that you have mostly played a very different set of rooms. I look forward to trying 24 and Littlewoods, as the bonuses there look very attractive.

Blindman,

I dont think the 24 bonus is as good as it was anymore .. but see how you go.

The littlewoods one with the ipod bonus was brilliant. (although surely they will come up with another added bonus sooner or lataer) The rakeback deal is also important there so make sure you sign up for that too.

I did Titan a long time ago for a one off bonus. Party I occasionally still play if they offer a juicy bonus, and I always try to double up whenever they give me free money.

Havent done VC, Pacific, or Tower, although I know pacific has a horrendous rake structure for low limit players.

I am probably going the everest bonus next through PSO. but havent got a lot of free time for poker at the moment so will see.

I think the 24 bonus is currently 100% to $1000, with $50 per 640 hands (0.5/1 and above). Still looks juicy to me.

VC is highly recommended among the iPoker sites - their bonuses cash out many times faster than most.

Pacific does have horrendous rake, but the bonus is good ($150 if you go through Pokerlistings), and the players are fishy. The bonus is instant and requires 20x play through to cash it out - at your level that's probably only a few hours of play. There are also some great freerolls if you sign through pokerlistings (e.g $17k WPT Barcelona package, monthly $5k with <100 players).

from memory i think the 24 bonus is .50/1 blinds ... so if you're playing limit $1/2 tables minimum. the bonus used to clear at 320 raked hands for $50 which was superb!

might have to check out some of those other sites myself

Wow, $50 per 320 is amazing. There is no way they can recover that in rake. 640 is still great in my book.

Indeed I got more than my rake paide back: Rake paid $736. Total bonus $1,010

Ok, this is going back a bit - but which rakeback site did you use to sign up to WH and still qualify for the fiver an hour? This looks like a good solid earner - one table, five hours - too easy!

Do you have to play a solid hour to get the fiver, or can you break it up?

I use raketherake - so if you're not a member there i'd appreciate you using my referral link :)

rtr also have a freeroll and race there as well.

And no, you dont have to do it in one hit. Even playing half an hour will count towards the next hour. (bearing in mind you have to play on at least the $1/2 tables if playing limit poker)

Although if you have 2 tables open and play for one hour that counts as 2 hours, so it really clears very quickly. ( i sometimes have 3 running ... so every 20 minutes another bonus ticks over)

cheers

Wow, so multitabling counts multi - that's great. I'll def use your link.

cheers mate.

i find that I earn between $10-14 at $1/2 in rakeback if I only play the 5 hours, and when you add on the extra $50 as well it turns out to be one of the best deals i've found and one that I make sure I do every month.

plus the $1/2 level is pretty fishy so its very low risk :)
